Tarsier ("we", "our", or "the app") is a Tagalog language learning app for iOS. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

Data stored locally on your device (never sent to our servers):

Lesson progress, quiz scores, streaks, and XP
Vocabulary word bank and practice history
Your skill level and motivation selections from onboarding
App preferences (notifications, sound, haptics)

This data is stored using Apple's SwiftData framework and stays on your device. We do not have a user account system and do not require login.

Data collected by third-party services:

PostHog (analytics): Anonymous usage events such as lessons started, lessons completed, and feature engagement. No personal identifiers are collected. PostHog's privacy policy: posthog.com/privacy
RevenueCat (subscriptions): If you subscribe to Tarsier Super, RevenueCat processes your subscription status through Apple's App Store. We do not see your payment details. RevenueCat's privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy
Google AdMob (advertising): If you are a free user, AdMob may show ads and collect device identifiers (IDFA) for ad personalization, subject to your App Tracking Transparency choice. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy

2. Data We Do Not Collect

We do not collect your name, email address, or phone number
We do not require account creation or login
We do not collect location data
We do not sell or share personal data with third parties for their own marketing purposes

3. Children's Privacy

Tarsier does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not require account creation and stores learning progress locally on the device only.

4. App Tracking Transparency

Tarsier respects your App Tracking Transparency (ATT) choice on iOS. If you decline tracking, AdMob will serve non-personalized ads and no IDFA will be collected.

5. Data Retention

Local data (progress, vocabulary, preferences) remains on your device until you delete the app or use the "Reset All Data" option in Settings. Anonymous analytics data is retained by PostHog according to their data retention policies.

6. Your Rights

Delete your data: Use "Reset All Data" in the app's Settings to erase all local data
Opt out of analytics: Contact us and we can exclude your anonymous ID from PostHog
Opt out of ad tracking: Decline the ATT prompt, or go to Settings > Privacy > Tracking on your device

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
